Mieng Kam

i first had this dish on my birthday this year, courtesy of aunty suet fun, at My Elephant. It's a thai appetizer, super yummy! anyways, i had it again when i brought the oldies to celebrate mummy's birthday at Kings & I.

It's such a yummy dish, i had to make is my own ^_^v so i asked some help from my trusty brain Google....

desicated coconut, freshly grated would be better though... roast it

for the sauce we need gula melaka melted with 1 cup water.

pound some shallots & ginger

here's the roasted coconut

fish sauce

roasted belacan

i forgot to buy lengkuas =_= so kena use powdered form...

mix all the above mentioned subjects & reduce into a thick sauce...

then, get mummy to go out & harvest the daun kaduk :) kehehheeh

these wild pepper leaves grow wild in my backyard, how convenient!

aunty suet fun had certified it safe to eat ^_^v

dice some lime, ginger, shallots & chili padi

o ya, don't forget to wash the kaduk leaves ya :-)

arrange nicely the roasted peanuts, dried shrimps & roasted coconut

looks nice doesn't it :)

to eat, take a bit of each ingredient & place it into a kaduk cone, top with sauce & stuff into mouth :)

this is Big D's cone... he so proud that he's looks "so nice"

before stuffing into mouth :)

kehehehe.... anyways, it's a rather cheap & addictive dish to make, just need to spend a lot of time on preparation :( however, this 1st time makung mieng kam sauce actually jadi lei! tastes exactly like the the one in Kings & I!
