a tale of the Claypot Chicken Rice.

it's thursday today. the sky is clear (in the morning). the birds are singing & the bees are buzzing & chai chai is hiding. Princess woke up at 10am cos she could. Princess did the usual morning stuff & took her journey downstairs. She walked into the kitchen & found that mummy had already prepared the items for lunch...

lettuce washed & dried...

"lap cheong" 腊肠, mushrooms soaking & spring onions hung to dry.

lotus root soup boiling...

but where is the cook? all was in place & it seemed we were having rice pot chicken rice... so i then proceeded to look for my mummy, fearing that the cat she had talked about (the cat that crawled into our kitchen by the window) had come to take my mummy away. to my dismay, i found mummy sitting on MY THRONE!!!

not like she doesn't have her OWN chair!

she then tricked forced me into cooking lunch! she was like -

MumZilla : Twerp! cook lunch! or else!!!!
Princess : But Mummy.... i didn't do enough research on how to cook it...
MumZilla : No no nononononoz!!! u cook lunch! i wanna watch tv. hurry or we'll all starve! u cook!!! then u can play with those mini pots u like so much! U COOK!!!

So wat to do... sigh... lucky thing chai chai boy came & made me happy ^_^ nyek nyek nyek!!!

chai chai came for a visit :-)

go home so fast...

so i then proceeded to cook the claypot chicken rice my way. cook the rice with a bone & ginger in a rice pot...

done!

debone the chicken & season...

fry the salted fish...

fry the lap cheong

assemble the ingredients on top the cooked rice...

we do it this way so we don't waste time waiting for the rice to cook in the minipot... make sure to add some water into the pot cos the meat will cook when the steam reaches the top.

we should get more stoves...

crack an egg :)

this is mine :-)

i like it :-) put garnishings... & stir!

Doesn't it remind you of Kampar???

the stired up rice,

the lettuce,

& a soup?

Definately something like kampar, minus the ulu town :-) hehehe... the rice at the bottom of the pot will turn out burnt & give an aroma & crunchiness :-) to my horror, mummy told me i'm cooking dinner as well!!!

* watch out mummy
